Keeping Your Apartment Clean With Pets

It is universally known that pets, no matter how well-behaved, can be prone to accidents. Or, maybe just love to create messes. We have made a list of all the things you need to prepare for owning a pet and how to clean up after them. These products are specifically designed to ensure you are buying products that cater to pet sensitivities and needs.

Stain remover

Accidents happen, and it is smart to be prepared to prevent permanent stains on your rugs, carpet, furniture, or clothes. When looking for a stain remover, look for ones that are specifically labeled as “pet friendly.” Some traditional stain removers use bleach and other chemicals that are harmful to pets. Pet-friendly stain removers are made to combat common stains, including pet vomit and urine. Here are some recommended pet-friendy stain removers:

Paw wipes and washers

To prevent stains on your rugs and carpet or a trail of mud or dirt, invest in a paw washer or wipes. Paw washers have silicone bristles that gently remove dirt. When shopping for paw wipes, it is crucial once again to look for the “pet-friendly” indication and read the ingredients. Some pet-friendly paw wipes include alcohol, parabens, and other harmful chemicals. Keeping the paw wipes or washers with a towel by your front door will ensure that you can clean paws without trailing dirt or messes into your home.

Vacuums

While they do make pet vacuums that vacuum your pet’s fur directly from them, some can be harmful to your pet by being too forceful. Instead, try brushing your pet to remove fur gently on a regular basis. Consider doing this on your patio or in your garage to avoid hair in your home.

For floor vacuums, every pet owner should have one specifically for pet fur. Pet-specific vacuums typically have more powerful suction, specialized bristles, and filtration systems. All of these components will effectively remove fur and allergens. Here are some recommended vacuums:

Mopping

After vacuuming your floors, following up with pet-friendly mopping cleaners is a must. However, many floor cleaning supplies, including pet-friendly ones, contain toxic chemicals. There are numerous different solutions you can make at home that will be cost-effective and much better for you and your pets. However, research to make sure the solution is safe for your floors. Some common ingredients in homemade solutions include vinegar, lemon, and Castille soap, depending on the floor type.

Grooming upkeep

Regularly grooming your pet according to its breed’s needs will help keep your apartment clean. When looking for pet shampoos and conditioners for baths, you should watch out for fragrances, artificial colors, sulfates, and parabenes. However, always look for shampoos and conditioners specific to your pet’s fur type, breed, and sensitivities. The same applies to the type of brush you use for your pet. Using a brush designed for your pet’s specific fur type will prevent tugging and discomfort.

Now you are ready to give your pet a clean and safe home! Even though these cleaners are labeled as “pet friendly” or “pet safe,” using these products is also safer for you and your apartment!
