When Life Gives You Lemons… Freshen Up Your Home! What can you do with lemons? Honestly, what can’t you do? Lemons can help you with just about any task around your home. Cleaning with lemons is just one of the many ways you can use lemons. Maybe you need to clean out your fridge, or perhaps you’re interested in a natural cleaning solution. Either way, here are five ways to clean your home with fresh lemons.

Air Freshener

Simmer pots are the best way to create your own air freshener! We love simmer pots because you can make your own recipe and adjust it based on your preferences. For our recipe, we used:

  • 3 lemons
  • rosemary
  • bay leaves
  • basil
  • water
  1. Chop/slice lemons however you want.
  2. Add to pot along with rosemary, bay leaves, and basil.
  3. Add water, put heat to high, and bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, put heat back to medium to medium-high, and enjoy, adding water as you desire!

Garbage Disposal

One of the best ways to keep your garbage disposal smelling fresh and clean is to slice a lemon, and put it in the disposal. It’s super easy and effective!

We sliced the lemons like so!

At this size, we put in two at a time before turning on the disposal.

Refrigerator

Putting lemons in your refrigerator can block out unwanted odors. This is a great way to utilize your leftover lemons and keep your refrigerator smelling brand new!

Simply slice lemons your favorite way, place them in a bowl or container of your choice, and place them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes!

Your refrigerator will smell as good as new!

Dishwasher

This life hack is the best! It blocks unwanted odors from leftover food in your dishwasher and cleans it!

We used the same size slices as the garbage disposal, but the size is according to your liking!

All you do is place the lemons on the rack they fit on, and run a normal wash. For extra cleaning, use detergent or a dishwashing pod!

Sink

Your sink can get smelly through the busy week. Using lemons to scrub your sink is a great way to clean it and leave it smelling fresh!

First, cut the lemons in half.

Then use the inside of the lemon to scrub your sink.

Rinse, and look at it sparkle!

This is also even more effective if you sprinkle baking soda in your sink before scrubbing! The citric acid mixed with the baking soda is great for stubborn build-up!

We hope these five ways to freshen up your home with lemons will motivate you and help you spruce up your home in creative ways!
