Quicker Than Takeout: 10 Easy At-Home Recipes

By the time your takeout order gets confirmed, packed, driven across town, and left on your doorstep, you could already be sitting down to eat. Cooking at home isn’t just quicker than takeout; it’s healthier (no mystery oils or sky-high sodium) and a lot easier on your budget than a delivery fee tacked onto every meal. The recipes below are built for exactly that: simple ingredients, minimal cleanup, and quicker than takeout.

Easiest Alfredo Sauce

Servings: 12

Quicker than takeout alfredo

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2ย cupsย Parmesan cheese,ย finely grated

Instructions

  1. Add butter and garlic to a sautรฉ pan and heat over low heat. Allow to cook until the butter is infused with the garlic, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add heavy cream, stir, and allow to come to a gentle simmer. Increase heat slightly if needed. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and immediately add in parmesan cheese.  (Note: the parmesan will easily melt if it was finely grated from a block. If you used pre-grated cheese, you may have to continue heating over low heat to get it to melt.) Stir to combine. It will take several minutes for the cheese to melt. If sauce needs to be thinned, add additional heavy cream.
